KWANITHINK Hip Flask

When you’re planning a big adventure—especially the kind where your legs will scream, the weather might turn, and snacks become more important than sleep—you need to get your food strategy right.

Before we even packed our bags, we made one smart move that’s already paid off: we bought all our snacks and meals in bulk. And honestly? It’s saved us a small fortune. Instead of paying inflated prices at every petrol station or village shop, we ordered our supplies online in multipacks. Not only did we save around 30–40% on most items, but we also started the trip properly stocked and ready—no scrambling for overpriced protein bars when energy starts to dip.

So what did we pack? First up, the snacks. We’ve got Eat Natural Vegan Bars (Peanuts, Coconut & Dark Chocolate) – properly tasty, filling, and friendly for plant-based diets. The 12-pack was much cheaper than grabbing them one at a time, and they’re just the thing for those mid-morning slumps.

For something a bit more substantial, we’ve got JB’s TREK High Protein Flapjacks. They’re vegan, gluten-free, and packed with plant-based energy. We went for the variety pack (16 bars) to keep things interesting – and so far, they’ve gone down very well. All of these choices were about balancing flavour, nutrition, and weight—but they also happen to taste great.

When it comes to actual meals, we didn’t want to be messing around with cooking gear or faffing about. So we stocked up on Huel Hot and Savoury meal packs. Just add boiling water, stir, wait a bit, and you’ve got a hot, satisfying meal. Perfect after a long day on the go. Again, buying these in bulk cut the cost per meal and gave us peace of mind knowing we’d always have something proper to eat… well, something that at least would give us the vegan protein we were going to need for this challenge.

Oh, and we also found this handy Spork 2 Pack, which means we can stay a little civilised…

Bulk buying really has been a game-changer for this trip. It’s kept our costs down, should keep our energy up, and meant we didn’t waste time searching for overpriced snacks or dodgy food options. It also meant we could focus on the actual challenge—not our stomachs or our wallets.

And then, for those moments where a little morale boost is needed—enter the hip flask. We picked up a KWANITHINK 8oz stainless steel flask (lightweight, durable, and comes with its own funnel—because why not). A small tot of something strong can do wonders for the spirits.

If you’re planning a similar adventure, do yourself a favour—sort your food in advance, think smart about your snacks, and buy in bulk. You’ll eat better, spend less, and avoid some very hangry moments. We’ll report back later on what we loved, what we ran out of, and what we wish we’d packed more of (spoiler: probably the flapjacks).
