We’re Tracey & Matt — partners in life, love, and now long-distance walking adventures.

We’ve been together for 25 years, and somewhere between completing university degrees, travelling NZ and Oz in a campervan, setting up our own business and subsequently selling it, renovating and moving house 8 times, festivals, gigs, road trips, fostering, losing family and friends, living through lockdown and retraining for new careers, we realised that life doesn’t wait. And neither should we.

We live in Cheshire, England, and we both work remotely — Tracey as a naturopathic nutritionist, and Matt in SEO. When we’re home for longer stretches, we also provide respite foster care, which is something very close to our hearts. But when we can, we pack our bags (and walking boots), grab a coffee, and head out into the world.

Why “Before The Legs Give Out”?

Because life is short — and it deserves to be lived to the fullest.
Tracey carries the BRCA2 gene, which has sharpened our perspective in a way we can’t ignore. It’s inspired us to live bigger, braver, and more freely now — while our health is strong and the hills are still calling.

We don’t want to wait until retirement to start living the life we dream of — we want the kind of stories that start with: “Remember when we hiked through a storm…” or “That café with the world’s best vegan cake…”

What We Love

  • Walking: The longer, the hillier, the better.
  • The Outdoors: Fires, stars, mountains, beaches, lakes, BBQ’s and beers.
  • Live Music: Matt’s a musician, so music is in our bones.
  • Vegan Living: We’re passionate about animals and eat plant-based for ethical reasons.
  • Coffee & Cake: Especially in remote spots — it’s our version of treasure hunting.
  • Connection: With people, nature, and the freedom of being on the move.

Why We’re Sharing

This blog is our little corner of the internet to document it all — the highs, the blisters, the best cappuccinos, and everything in between.
We hope it inspires others (especially those who think they’ve missed their moment) to get out there, explore more, and embrace the unknown — before the legs give out.

Thanks for being here. Come walk with us.
